Common Skin Problems:
Skin rashes on the hands, shoulders, legs and elbows and other dermatitis conditions like jock itch and athlete's foot can be caused by fungus and bacteria present in the sports equipment.
Acne Mechanica is a form of acne seen in athletes that is a result of heat, pressure, occlusion and friction. It usually occurs in areas such as the shoulders, back and head that are covered by protective gear. Tight synthetic clothing or equipment such as helmets and shoulder pads are primary culprits of Acne Mechanica in football and hockey players.
A boil is a skin infection, usually of a har follicle, caused by common bacteria. Wrestlers are particularly susceptible to boils because as they sweat, theit skin comes in contact with athlete mats - which may harbor bacteria when they are not properly cleaned after use - or other wrestlers who can transmit the infection. This transmission of bacteria and fungus is also evident in footwear, gloves and protective equipment that is shared at schools, fitness centers and sports organizations.
Our specially formulated sanitizers effectively help to eliminate these potentially harmful organisms by thoroughly cleaning deep into the equipment itself. The detergents break down and force out contaminants and organic matter while the second step of sanitizing ensures that the equipment is free of harmful agents in the equipment like fungus and bacteria.
Proven Results in the Lab:
The objective of the analysis was to perform an aerobic plate count on the fabric samples that were run through the Esporta Wash System using our enzyme based detergents, rinse cycle and sanitizer rinse cycle against a field isolated fungai organism.
The detergent, sanitizer and rinse cycles were effective against the fungi yielding a >99.999% reduction and a >5.48 log reduction. There was no evidence of the bacterial contaminants in this set.

Fungii and mold growing on internal material of elbow pad

Spore Forming Bacilli found in hockey elbow pad.

It's what's inside that counts!
In this case it is the cause of the terrible odor that comes from filthy sports equipment. Deep inside the foam, leather and fabric of the protective gear, sweat, bacteria, mold, yeast and fungus are present. These elements create a breeding ground for decay that results in the unbearable smell of hockey equipment.
Prior to the Esporta Cleaning Service there was no effective cleaning method for this equipment. Left unclean the leather, fabric and foam harbored potentially harmful bacteria, fungus and other contaminates that could pose a health risk to the athletes.
